Personality
At first glance, Meru appears to be your typical teenager. She doesn't have any major concerns, has a problem with authority and wants general independence. Meru is not a conformist as is evident from her actions regarding the Wingly Forest Taboos. Meru is an individual and she doesn't seek approval from her peers, only understanding.
However Meru feels guilt over the actions of her ancestors. Her desire to make her friends and family understand that all races are equal may be supported by that guilt over those actions.
Meru is sympathic to those who were used, broken and discarded with ease such as Lenus. While Meru has no reason to be sympathic to the wingly Meru looked at Lenus with sadness. Lloyd had so easily discarded Lenus and this affected Meru. It was probably the reason Meru took Lloyd as an enemy. She has no other reason before hand.
Meru also has a strong opposition to the Wingly religion or at least its god Archangel. Meru doesn't believe in blindly following a religion. She also has a problem with racism and bigotry. People should search out the truth and not listen to whatever someone tells them to follow. Faith is good and all but Meru prefers proof.
Meru isn't just the comic relief character. Her carefree personality just contributes to that appearance. Meru does have a serious side when is comes to blindly following something with no knowledge. She just wants to live carefree and happy.
